Dr. Hope Cunningham, DPT, PRPC is an expert pelvic floor Physical Therapist with the experience to use evidenced based interventions and the courage to use cutting edge treatments to tailor your care.
She specializes in working with all genders who experience pelvic pain, bladder and bowel dysfunction, pain with sex, pregnancy related pain, and postpartum recovery.
Dr. Hope obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science program where she began her training in pelvic health and completed two pelvic floor internships.
Before pursuing her Doctorate, she was a licensed massage therapist and practiced for 10 years in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. For her undergraduate education, Dr. Hope graduated from Earlham College and majored in Religion.
Dr. Hope is trained by the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, in Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Myofascial Release, and by the Upledger Institute in CranioSacral Therapy.
She has completed coursework and is pursuing her certification in the Integrated Systems Model with mentorship under Diane Lee, a world-renowned physical therapy instructor, practitioner and author of integrative rehabilitation care. She one of the few PT’s in the Washington, DC region to become certified with a Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification(PRPC), one of the two highest designations of specialization in Pelvic Health Rehabilitation.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Hope enjoys cooking and eating adventurous foods, rock climbing, traveling, making art, and spending time with her her husband and son Whitaker.
